Major automakers mostly produce cars for consumer use, as a daily driver is what a lot of people are looking for when they purchase a new automobile. Fleet automobiles, though, are a large part of the sales from major auto manufacturers. You’ve trucks and vans for transportation purposes, and then there is the rental automobile industry. There is a more interesting type of fleet vehicle, that is part of myth and star. That is the police interceptor. Hardly an auto business doesn’t make a police auto. A lot of people would actually like to get behind the wheel of one, most likely. You will find a couple of upcoming from Ford and Dodge that look especially amazing.
New interceptors as Ford retires a mainstay
Ford Motors is retiring a long standing favorite among police, and thus is offering two new interceptor models. The Crown Victoria, the rear wheel drive V-8 police cruiser, will no longer be made, so Ford is offering two brand new interceptor models. There will be Ford Explorer and Ford Motors Taurus interceptor models. The police Taurus can be powered by a turbo charged V-6 that can produce 365 horsepower, along with necessary upgrades for police for instance greater cooling capacity, enhanced transmission and suspension, and a sturdier frame. The Explorer shares lots of components with the Taurus, as does the new generation of Explorers.
Dodge in Pursuit of law enforcement sales
Dodge and Chevrolet are rolling out new police interceptors as well. Dodge is coming out with the Dodge Pursuit, the police cruiser version of the Dodge Charger. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pursuit can be a rear wheel drive model of the Charger that will come with a turbo V-6 or a V-8, also as other law enforcement accouterments for instance a beefed-up suspension and stability controls. Chevrolet is attempting for making up for lost time. The brand new Caprice, depending on the older Caprice, will be a police vehicle only.
Law-breaking covers automobile makers
Police vehicles are actually more profitable than other fleet vehicle counterparts, however law enforcement vehicles also have to be made to more demanding specifications. cars have to be able to match raw power, agility, toughness, and be able to have a lot of electronic equipment installed. The car must be comfortable as well. Someone has to be in one for hours.
